Key changes in 2026

Resumed (mid-2026): After the Israel–Iran escalation of early 2026, most major carriers gradually restored service. By July 2026, Air France, Lufthansa, SWISS, ITA Airways, Eurowings, and airBaltic had all resumed. Most European schedule disruptions have resolved, but the situation following any future regional event should be re-checked at each airline.

New routes launched in 2026:

Upcoming resumptions:

Wizz Air TLV hub (spring 2026): Wizz Air launched a full Tel Aviv base with based aircraft — the first Wizz Air hub in Israel. This enabled rapid network expansion to approximately 21 routes by summer 2026, with a long-term target of ~50 routes from TLV. New routes added in 2026 include Bratislava (BTS, May 2026), Naples (NAP), Palermo (PMO), and Venice (VCE); Milan MXP frequency was doubled to up to 14 flights per week for summer 2026. Additionally, a new domestic route between Tel Aviv Ben Gurion (TLV) and Ramon Airport (ETH/Eilat area) launched — the first domestic Wizz Air service in Israel, offering a budget option for reaching the Negev. Verify the current route list and schedules at wizzair.com, as hub expansion routes may be added or adjusted on short notice.

KLM suspension and upcoming resumption: KLM suspended its Amsterdam–TLV service from 1 March 2026 (following renewed security concerns). Service is scheduled to resume on 25 August 2026 — not yet active as of mid-August 2026. Travelers who booked KLM via Amsterdam during March–August 2026 were rerouted or refunded. Once resumed, KLM will operate a Larnaca (Cyprus) crew stop — crew overnight in Larnaca, not Israel. Verify current operational status at klm.com before booking.

How to book with confidence

Check the airline’s official website first — this page is updated periodically but airline schedules change faster than any editorial site can track. For British Airways and easyJet in particular, the situation has shifted multiple times (easyJet’s March 2026 restart did not happen; the current planned date is late October 2026); treat any date in this guide as approximate, not confirmed.

Compare fares across all active carriers using a fare comparison tool before booking. With the field of flying carriers narrower than it was in 2023, some routes that previously had 3–4 competing options now have 1–2, and prices reflect that.

Consider alternative hubs. With Turkish Airlines suspended and British Airways absent, some European travelers are connecting via Paris (Air France), Amsterdam (El Al, or KLM from 25 August 2026), Rome (ITA), Zurich (SWISS), or Frankfurt (Lufthansa) rather than their usual Istanbul or London routing. Run a search via each hub to find the best total fare.

Book refundable fares where possible while the situation remains fluid, especially for travel in the coming few months.

For full flight booking strategy — when to book, fare alert tools, open-jaw routings, and points-and-miles options — see the cheap flights to Israel guide.

Once you’re booked, the Ben Gurion Airport guide covers terminal layout, security, lounges, and onward connections. The airport transfers guide compares train, taxi, sherut, and private transfer options into Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.

Frequently asked questions

Is British Airways flying to Israel in 2026? +

No. British Airways suspended its London Heathrow–Tel Aviv service and has announced a planned restart no earlier than late October 2026. Verify current status at ba.com before booking — the date has shifted before. In the meantime, Virgin Atlantic does not fly TLV; the best London alternatives are El Al direct from Heathrow, or connections via European hubs on Lufthansa, Air France, or KLM (resuming 25 August 2026 — suspended until then; El Al covers the AMS connection in the interim).

Is Ryanair flying to Israel in 2026? +

No. Ryanair has not operated any flights to Ben Gurion Airport since 2023 and confirmed it will not restart TLV service during Summer 2026. Do not rely on Ryanair for Israel travel. Note that easyJet is also currently suspended from TLV. The main budget alternative from the UK is Wizz Air (London Luton). For other UK options, check El Al direct from Heathrow or connections via Air France, Lufthansa, or SWISS.

Is Turkish Airlines flying to Israel? +

No. Turkish Airlines (THY) has suspended its Istanbul–Tel Aviv routes and has not announced a confirmed restart date. Istanbul (IST) is therefore not currently available as a connecting hub for Israel. Alternative Middle East hubs: Dubai (FlyDubai direct to TLV; Emirates does NOT fly TLV), Abu Dhabi (Etihad up to 6 daily AUH–TLV as of mid-2026), Doha (Qatar Airways — verify current operational status).

What airlines fly nonstop from the United States to Israel in 2026? +

Nonstop US–Israel services as of August 2026: El Al from New York JFK, Los Angeles LAX, San Francisco SFO (new Oct 2026), Miami MIA (seasonal), Chicago ORD, and Washington IAD; Delta from New York JFK (daily, resumed Sep 2025) and Atlanta ATL (3×/week Wed/Fri/Sun, resumed April 15, 2026 on A350-900); Israir from New York JFK (low-cost nonstop, launched Aug 2026); American Airlines from Miami MIA (seasonal). United Airlines suspended all TLV routes during the Ben Gurion closure (Feb–Apr 2026) — EWR resumes September 8, 2026 (2× daily B787); ORD and IAD dates TBC — check united.com. Delta BOS confirmed October 24, 2026 (daily, A330-900neo) — verify at delta.com.

Which European airlines resumed Israel flights in 2026? +

Following the Israel–Iran escalation of early 2026, most major European carriers gradually resumed service by mid-2026: ITA Airways (Rome FCO) resumed; Air France (Paris CDG) resumed; Lufthansa (Frankfurt FRA) and SWISS (Zurich ZRH) resumed July 1, 2026; Eurowings (Hamburg HAM, Düsseldorf DUS — new routes) resumed mid-July 2026; airBaltic (Riga RIX) resumed July 2026. British Airways remains suspended. Always check the airline's own website for current operational status before booking.

Is Israir flying from Spain to Israel in 2026? +

Yes — Israir is launching a new Tel Aviv (TLV)–Madrid (MAD) route on 25 October 2026, operating 3 times per week on an Airbus A320. This is Israir's first European route outside the Ben Gurion–JFK axis and will offer a competitive low-cost option between Spain and Israel. Israir is an Israeli low-cost carrier, so compare total prices including checked luggage before booking. Verify the schedule and fares at israir.com — launch schedules may shift.

Is Emirates flying to Israel? +

No. Emirates permanently suspended all Tel Aviv service in 2024 and has not announced any restart. For Dubai connections, use FlyDubai, which operates frequent direct DXB–TLV flights. For Abu Dhabi, Etihad operates up to 6 daily AUH–TLV flights as of mid-2026.
