Frequently asked questions
How many days do I need to see Israel?
Five to seven days is the minimum to see the main highlights — Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, and one more area (Dead Sea, Galilee, or Negev). Ten to fourteen days lets you explore more comfortably. Two weeks gives you space to cover Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, the Dead Sea, Galilee, Golan Heights, and a slice of the Negev without feeling rushed.
Can I visit Jerusalem and Tel Aviv in the same trip?
Absolutely — they are about 60 km apart and well-connected by train (under an hour) and bus. Most visitors split their time: 2–3 nights in Jerusalem for the Old City, then 2 nights in Tel Aviv for the coast and food scene.
Is it realistic to visit Eilat from Jerusalem in one day?
As a long day trip, it is very tight — it is roughly 4 hours each way by car, leaving little time in Eilat. For a meaningful Red Sea experience, plan at least one overnight in Eilat or Mitzpe Ramon.
Do I need a car for my Israel itinerary?
A car is optional for Jerusalem and Tel Aviv (excellent buses and shared taxis) but strongly recommended for Galilee, Golan Heights, and the Negev. Dead Sea resorts are reachable by bus, though a car gives flexibility for hiking the canyons.
How does Jewish Shabbat affect my itinerary?
From Friday sundown to Saturday night, most public transport stops and many businesses close. Plan to be in your destination by Friday afternoon, stay in a hotel with Shabbat meals, or use a private taxi/tour. Some tourist sites, museums, and restaurants in Tel Aviv and mixed cities stay open.
What is the minimum stay in the Galilee?
Two nights is the practical minimum to see Nazareth, the Sea of Galilee, and one more site (Caesarea or Akko on the way up, Golan if you add a day). One night is a stretched day trip from Tel Aviv and leaves little time at each site.
